Wānaka is a spectacular place to celebrate your wedding day. The setting boasts such rugged beauty, and your wedding flowers should feel like an organic extension of the landscape, intentionally arranged and beautifully displayed.
At Blooms by The Workroom, our specialty is hand-picking the right flowers to celebrate you and your lover's special day, creating an unforgettable floral experience for you and your guests. As your Central Otago wedding florists, we design a bespoke floral plan tailored to your celebration.
How Can We Style Your Wedding Flowers?
We specialise in creating beautiful, tailored floral designs for all wedding formats, from intimate ceremonies in the heart of the Southern Alps, to full-scale celebrations. Our signature style is natural, rambling, and romantic, ensuring every element contributes to a sophisticated, and wild aesthetic.

Planning an Intimate Wedding Celebration?
While we specialise in large-scale weddings, we equally love creating for smaller, more intimate occasions such as elopements. An intimate ceremony doesn't mean compromising on luxury or design. We ensure your personal flowers (the bridal bouquet, the buttonholes, and any small ceremony arrangement) are created using the finest flowers, providing maximum impact for your photography and your moment. The booking process for intimate celebrations follows the same bespoke approach as larger weddings, meaning no detail is overlooked.
Can Our Flower Arrangements be Tailored to Our Venue?
Yes, the ceremony backdrop is the key statement piece of your day and your flowers should be too. We arrange the flowers depending on the venue and have completed hundreds of installations in Queenstown and Wanaka.
For example, at venues like The Rippon Hall, we design installations that appear to be organically growing from the landscape, providing visual drama without competing with the natural setting.
This includes:
-
Ceremony Arches and Arbours: Full or partial floral coverage, designed to enhance the existing structure.
-
Grounded Installations: Lush, impactful floral arrangements placed at the base of the ceremony space.
-
Hanging Features: Overhead installations for the reception that fill high ceilings and create an immediate atmosphere.
This type of focused, high-impact design is crucial for both intimate elopement ceremonies and grand receptions in Queenstown or Wānaka.

Why Are Wedding Flowers Worth the Investment (and How Does the Pricing Actually Work)?
Wedding planning in the South Island of New Zealand means understanding the wedding flower cost early in your journey. Because we specialise in bespoke blooms, we do not offer set packages or rates. Instead, the investment reflects the intricacy of the design, the volume of flowers and arrangements, and the labour required for on-site execution.
Your overall flower spend depends on the scale, from an intimate elopement arrangement to a full-scale floral experience with statement installations. To give you a starting point, we recommend allocating 10-15% of your overall wedding budget to flowers. By submitting a brief, our head florist can provide a custom quote tailored to the exact details you are looking for, ensuring accuracy and transparency from the start.

How Do We Tie Your Bouquets, Cake Flowers, and Place Settings Together for a Single, Cohesive Design?
The Bridal Bouquet: This is the most photographed element. Whether you are dreaming of a generous, texture-rich collection of summer wedding flowers or a monochromatic study in white, the bouquet must be a cohesive reflection of your style and the season.
The Finishing Touch: The Cake: Even small details are intentionally placed. We can wire and tape fresh blooms for your cake, ensuring this focal point is elevated from a simple dessert to a beautiful piece of art.

Securing Your Date
We work on a first-come, first-served basis. Once you are happy with your bespoke quote, we will send an invoice for a 50% deposit, which formally secures your wedding date with us. The remaining balance is not due until 6-8 weeks before your event. We understand that plans evolve, so we reach out about eight weeks ahead of time to confirm all final details and see if you would like to make any adjustments.
On the special day, we handle delivery to the venue. We also offer a dedicated pack-down service post-wedding, ensuring our team handles every step before and after, leaving you to simply enjoy the celebration.
