Bremner Bay

We had the privilege of working on Mou Tapu Crib, a beloved family home at Bremner Bay on Lake Wanaka. Our goal was to preserve the character of the original South Island crib while creating an inviting space for family and friends to gather. The project also included the addition of a new contemporary crib at the front, designed by Mason and Wales, which evolved the classic design while respecting its heritage.

  • The Brief

Our brief was to maintain the charm of this cherished family home and create a welcoming environment that honors its history. We aimed to seamlessly blend the old and new, ensuring the addition of the standalone crib enhanced the overall aesthetic without compromising the original structure.

  • The Process

We meticulously renovated the existing crib to retain its character and cozy appeal. Mason and Wales designed the new contemporary crib, while Gibb Building expertly constructed it. Throughout the process, we focused on interior elements that reflect the history of the original crib, incorporating nostalgic touches while integrating modern comforts for a relaxed atmosphere.

  • The Outcome

The transformation of Mou Tapu Crib resulted in a stunning family retreat that celebrates the clients’ heritage. The harmonious blend of historic and contemporary spaces creates an inviting ambiance for relaxation and connection. This project ensures that the family can continue to make cherished memories in their rejuvenated home for generations to come.
